les
Would the above flash brackets fit Canon 1V WITH the power booster attached ? Do I need anything else than Canon off-camera cord 2 to have it all work (in other words, do I need a separate shoe adapter to attach the flash to the bracket)? I haven't used the off-camera cord with a flash bracket, and I am not sure how the flash terminal of the cord is attached to the flash bracket: the description on B&H site does not list any screws/bolts/attachment means with the bracket, and the photo of the cord does not provide any explanation. It appears that the terminal may be attached to a shoe adapter (which usually have screws included), but what about directly to the bracket ? Also, will I have E-TTL available (B&H description of the cord says TTL)?
jimstrutz
The Off Camera Shoe Cord 2 (OCSC2) is all you need as far as the cord and shoe arrangements are concerned since it has both ends included. No other shoe adapter is needed. It can be attached to the Stroboframe by using the Stroboframe shoe clamp. I'm not sure what they call that shoe clamp, but it looks kind of like a miniature Arca Swiss quick release that clamps onto the bottom side rails of the OCSC2 or directly to the hot foot of most flash units. The clamp costs about $10, is sold on B&H's website, and makes it quick & easy to mount/dismount the cord/flash assembly. Some Stroboframe brackets come with the clamp included. It attaches to the bracket with an included 1/4 x 20 screw. However, since the bottom of the hotshoe portion of the OCSC2 has a 1/4 x 20 screw hole built in, you can just use a simple screw/bolt to mount it without the clamp. It will be TTL or E-TTL, depending on what flash you use with the 1V. I don't know what bracket would be best with the 1V HS. It's a pretty big camera. But the Pro T is taller and therefore has more room than the Press T. I think the Press T is easier to handle though.
jimstrutz
Here's the link on that "Strobframe Flash Mount Adapter - Standard Shoe Type." I see it's gone up to $12. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=52772&is=REG
les
Thanks, Jim. I kind of hoped that you would answer my question (I have noticed that great many good answers on flash issues come from you).
