adnan
First, thanks for all the responses to my earlier question when I was debating an MF purchase. I found an SWC for a pretty good price including a one year warranty and two week return, and that also aided my decision. I'll be recieving it tomorrow. This one is the earlier style with the chrome lens. What is the filter size that goes on this? I'm looking for a UV filter, a hood, and a 25a red filter. I know the later models used a B60, but I can't find info on the earlier chrome ones. Also this model does not have the T* multicoating... I've seen some places that offer lens coating services. Is this advisable, or should I just use the hood and forget about it? Thanks again.
dan_fromm2
Adnan, I shoot a single-coated 38/4.5 Biogon made in 1969 that I took from an ex-RAF aerial camera. The front cell's barrel is not threaded for filters and I've never bothered to have a slip-on hood made for it. My lens, which has the same glasses as yours, is pretty flare resistant. All 38/4.5 Biogons are coated. Yours shouldn't need more coatings. If I were you I'd not even bother with a hood. Just shoot and be happy. Cheers, Dan

q.g._de_bakker
Adnan,

The C-version of the lens has a series 63 (= series VIII) filter mount. That it, the filters are not threaded, but are held in plave by a threaded retaining ring.
The thread is close to, but not quite the same as 67 mm filter thread. Some 67 mm threaded filters apparently fit.
There was a series 63/VIII lens hood for the 38 mm Biogon. It perhaps pops up on the Big Auction-site now and again?
