john15
I just bought my second Rollei 35,an early, made-in-Germany version. When I shine a small flashlght through the lens, there appears to be a lot a dust particles. No fungus, just specs [without the pin-point light souce, the lens looks perfectly clear]. Will this have an adverse affect on the quality of the photographs?
michaelging
John,, just about every lens , even brand new high dollar lenses, have dust inside them. It will not hurt the quality of the great lens on your Rollei 35.
titrisol
I doubt it will unless you have a dead cockroach or something like that. If you want to nitpick, take pictures of the sky and see if you can see any spots.
mike_elek
Agreed -- don't worry about it. I think if you were to use the same test on a zoom lens, you'd be quite shocked by what you see.
nicolas_douez
I agree with Mike. In my razor-sharp Nikkor 2.5/105 AI-S (certainly one of the best portrait lenses ever made, and, maybe, THE best, despite all Leica-Elmarit-fans could say :-)), there were a lot, a lot, a lot of dust particles when I got it from NEW in a retail shop. I never noticed that these made the lens to be prone to flare. In fact, sometimes I prefer to use my 2/85mm AI-S that is just a bit less sharp :-)) even though there is not the least dust particle in it... And don't forget to look for bubbles, gloups :-))
sergio_leal
John, today I purchased a camera just like yours (I just left a new thread on this topic). Are the images sharp enough with Rollei 35 T + fixed 40mm/3.5 Tessar lens ?? Thanks for your input.
