MF Negatives Scanned with Epson 1650 Built-in "Adapter"?

I posted this on the general forum and got one response. It sounds

like what I want to do isn't possible, but I thought I'd post it here

and see if anyone else has tried this:

The current Epson 1650 Photo scanner comes with a "35mm Transparency

Adapter" built in to the hood, and masks for positioning your 35mm

negatives. But unlike other 35mm transparency adapters, the diffusing

cover on this on is 57mm wide, or as wide as 120 negs minus the

camera masking. I'm thinking that if the whole thing is evenly lit,

it could scan MF negs WITHOUT the add-on 4x5 inch transparency

adapter. Has anyone used this setup for MF negs?

The 4x5 transparency adapter includes the holders for various formats.

That said, the built-in adapter should work, but I haven't tried it with mine that way. You would have to place the film directly on the glass, and then deal with the Newton rings. Tetenol makes a spray for this, but I haven't tried it yet.
