f._timothy_knapik
Hello. I am thinking of selling my PZ-1p and purchasing an MZ-S. I really like the PZ-1p but I find it bulky. I like the MZ-S in my hands much more. I have had it for about 3 years. I have the Pentax extended warranty and will send the camera in for a clean and lube before I sell it. I will also be selling the grip with it. So, can anyone suggest what I should ask for it? Thanks. Francis
stemked
These aren't good days to be selling film cameras in general. Naturally it all depends on the quality of your camera, but the market really stinks. Just to get you in the ballpark check out this person's final listing at ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15240&item=3838177591&rd=1 $300 for all that? Pretty darn sad, I'd say.
stemked
I might add, since the grip is rare you'll likely do better selling them separately.
robert_herz
Hi Tim, don't sell it at all, send it in for maintenance and lubrication and keep it as a backup. If you sell it now - with these prices - you only loose money. Best regards Robert
chris_chow
I have both the MZ-S and the PZ-1P. If I have to sell one, it would be the MZ-S. In my experience, the AF in MZ-S is definitely not top grade. I also dont like its shutter feel. But I agree that the MZ-S is good to hold, especially with the vertical grip. OTOH the ist* has very good AF, a light and compact body and is much cheaper too. Why not get it as a backup and keep the PZ-1P? My PZ-1P was bought about 4 months ago at about $400 through eBay. It is LNIB.
f._timothy_knapik
Thank you everyone for your responses.I have decided to keep the PZ-1p. As Douglas pointed out, the prices that film cameras are selling for are not very good. As I use my cameras a lot, my other camera is the LX (I would never part with that camera), the PZ-1p is not in LN condition. Thanks again. paul_quirk
On the other hand, the film camera market is great for people like me who love a good bargain. I'm building up my Pentax 35mm system for dirt cheap!
maxpometun
It was sad to let my pZ1p go (the camera in the eBay link above was actually mine), but I just could not afford to keep it after the istD purchase. It is a bad time to sell any film camera, but at this point with so many DSLRs hitting the market it can only get worse. I'd say keep your PZ if you can afford it (despite having DSLR I still sometimes shoot film with my Ricoh).Cheers.
