Film Loading/advance Rollei

I know this is a stupid question--sorry. It has been a long time since i

owned my last Rollei and this one I just got gives me much trouble

(Thank you very much for advice on shutter). When I put the film in the

camera I line up the arows on the film against (some mark in the

camera I can't find?). The film goes over all the rollers, not under right? I

close the camera and this is the issue--I advance the film untill it is all

on the other spool. That is the film never stops, counter never goes to

#1. But the shutter is cocking--I can turn the handle few times and I can

release th eshutter. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi Michael:

No question is stupid.

You must have an "automatic" Rolleiflex. There is nothing to line up and that's why there are no marks.

The full spool goes in the bottom compartment. Pull the film out a little and feed it from underneath between the twin rollers, then pull it up to the take up spool. Insert the film in the take up spool. Wind the crank so the take up spool makes about 3/4 of a turn (to make sure the fim will solidly wind up on the spool) Then close the camera. If you wind the crank slowly you will hear the counter being activated by the paper backing that pushes the first duo rollers apart. Continue to wind till it stops. The counter should now be on 1. Reverse crank and the shutter will cock and now you are in business.

Look through the threads in the Forum. You will find Web pages where you can download an instruction manual for your particular camera.

Hope this is of some help to you.

I would like to add a follow-up qeustion if I may please.....

My Rollei (3.5) is being loaded properly and operate beautifully,

however just all of a sudden - no bumps or drops - and the film

no longer automatically stops at the first frame when loading.

Two things: can anyone direct me to the "thing" that does the

stopping so I may be able to fix it?

And second for the the temporary fix as I am on the road, how

many full or part cranks doe sit take to advance to the next frame

before the half rotation back to cock the shutter? I'm hoping that I

can manually stop the advance and not overlap frames.

Thanks for anyones help!
