andrew_pike1
I'm looking at the color negative film page at B&H and see a film that I've not heard of before-Fujicolor Press 400. Can some users of this film tell me what it is like? Thanks.
steven_clark
It's essentially identical to Superia 400, just maybe a bit more consistent.
r.t. dowling
It has fine grain, high contrast, moderate saturation, and good exposure latitude.
Michael R Freeman
Andrew, It is the SAME emulsion/film as Superia X-Tra 400 (CH), but only available in 36 exposure rolls and is usually (always?) packaged in 20 roll pro packs. A good all purpose print film IMHO, particularly if you use slower consumer SLR zooms or 35mm point-and-shoots. Fine grain with higher contrast and a bit more saturation the the pro portrait films (NPS, NPH). Handles mixed lighting well (4th colour layer technology). Very good value for Fuji print film users - it is the one I recommend to family/friends looking for a high quality inexpensive film for snapshots. Michael R Freeman
If you like reading data sheets, you can access the Fuji data sheet for Press 400 from this page:<BR> <a href="http://home.fujifilm.com/products/EMcontents/p_info/detail.pgi?b1=1&b2=2&b3=2&hyoji_junni=6&f=2">http://home.fujifilm.com/products/EMcontents/p_info/detail.pgi?b1=1&b2=2&b3=2&hyoji_junni=6&f=2</a><P> or link directly to the pdf file here:<BR> <a href="http://home.fujifilm.com/products/uploaded/Fil0035.PDF">http://home.fujifilm.com/products/uploaded/Fil0035.PDF</a><P> Also, I see this is available in a 5-pack in addition to the 20-pack.<P>Mike
johnmarkpainter
I buy it by the case and find it to be a good film BUT I have used the Press Films on the same shoot as NPH, NPZ, NPS as well as Portra NC and the Press film looked 'cheaper' to me than the other Films (which in fact cost a lot more). jmp
rafaelsoldi
I once read it was a good film for photojournalism. I have never used it, though.
gary_watson
Seems to me that all "Press" involves is a 36, rather than a 24 exposure roll of the same old Superia 400 sold everywhere. Superia 200 and 800 are my favorite consumer films but 400 is just too contrasty and over-saturated. Try Kodak High Definition 400 sometime for a pleasant surprise.
