henry_minsky1
I have a Pentax Super ME camera and I noticed that little flakes offoam from around the mirror seal seem to be getting into the camera. What is the best way to get this fixed? I'm not sure I want to try todisassemble and replace the seals myself. Is there anyone recommendedwho does this kind of operation for a reasonable price? jon_goodman1
Hello, Henry. Actually, you can do it yourself. For $6, I'll gladly send you a kit that will contain enough foam for your Pentax and 5 more like it. If you're in the USA, shipping is free, too. To see the kit, please go to E-Bay and search using the option of "Items by seller." Type in my ID...Interslice...and there you go. There are even some examples of actual re-sealing work being done on the auction page. If you have questions, please click on my name and contact me directly. james_oneill
It's quite simple to do - I had my ME Super serviced last year and they changed the foam as part of the job - it doesn't last for ever.
jamesp
this happened to me. My local camera store charged $30 US to replace the foam and clean the little flakes out from the body and mirror. I guess I got ripped off, but I'd rather not take the chance of scratching the surface of my mirror.
