w._veena
I recently bought a used 6006/SLX Polaroid Back (with the darkslide). I intended to use it on a 6008 Professional. Enthusiastically about the new magazine I bought two packs of Fuji Instant film. After putting it into the magazin and closing it I pulled the black paper coating out of the filmback. First problem was, that the first white tab didn?t come through the rollers but tore off where it was attached to the black coating. After fiddling around with some tools I could get the white tab out of the magazine. I tried to expose the first image, then pulled the white tab, then the black tab. Again the tab of exposure #2 didn?t appear but tore off. After development I pulled the two sides of the filmsheet apart. But every exposure (exept the last one) shows yellow streaks in the middle of the image (underdeveloped?) in an area about 1.5inch wide (unfortunately I don?t have a scan). What I could figure out is: First, one of the two rollers seems to be far too stiff. I disassembled the whole magazine but I couldn?t find out how to reduce friction between the roll and the metal clamps. Honestly I don?t want to waste more film. Maybe someone has experienced similar problems with a pola mag. like mine. My second question is: Because of the darkslide and the metal guides for the darkslide, it is in my opinion technically impossible, that the polaroid film comes to lie in the correct filmplane of the 6008. Thus all exposures seem to be a bit out of focus. I thought I could try to correct this by bringing the lens a (defined) bit out of focus as well (after focusing). Any experiences with that? Thanks in advance! Wolfgang
mab
I don't know about the Rollei Polaroid back, but what you're experiencing sounds EXACTLY like what happened to me when I got my first Polaroid back for my Bronica. I'll bet you don't have the instruction manual... It's much easier to load the film pack than you think. You don't feed the tab from the protective sheet through the rollers when you load the film pack! Just put the film pack over the dark slide and make sure the white tabs aren't trapped below the film (but rather are seated in the "notch"). Close the pack and pull out the black tab from the protective sheet. Now the white tab from the first exposure should be sticking out. Only after you pull the white tab (after you make your exposure) does the film tab actually feed through the rollers. (When you pull on the film tab, the development time actually starts and the next white tab should stick out). It's possible that your Rollei back uses some completely different mechanism, but I remember those yellow streaks (extactly the width of the white tabs, right?) all too well. w._veena
Ok, that sounds promising... Indeed, I don't own a manual... Yes, I fed the black tab straight trough the rollers... Yes, the yellow streaks are the width of the white tabs... All the evidence points to human failure! I'm going to buy another filmpack and retry. Could it be that simple??????? Matt, thanks a lot for that advice! If it works I'm gonna be happy again! Wolfgang

sabrina_h.
i know this thread is a little old, but i'm experiencing the exact same problem with my Bronica SQ polaroid back. i just busted an entire pack that did not expose, the white tab broke after being pulled and streaks. This is so frustrating!!!!
