john_sarsgard1
I want to be able to shoot tethered with my 5d, but cannot find, even at B&H, a very long USB or firewire cable. Four feet just isn't practical. Anybody know what everybody else uses? Thanks.
pico_digoliardi
I have a 10' USB 2.0 cable right here on my desk. Belkin Part#: F3U133-10 Surf and ye shall find one. I'll bet B&H has one. They can be chained together, but very long lengths may not be reliable.
gluteal cleft
Try Newegg. Great selection, good prices, amazing service. You can either get a long cable with the appropriate connectors on the end, or just get a USB extension cable. I think they're available up to 15 feet.

steve
jon_austin
Buy the shortest cable you can find that meets your needs. Avoid extensions if possible; each interconnect contributes to signal loss, and is a potential failure point.
press_photog
I have a 10' extention cable. One nice thing about them is if someone runs between you and your PC, the connection will split apart, rather than ripping the cam out of your hand, or sending the laptop or whatever for a ride. This happened to me, and the extension saved my @$$. I have never had a signal issue BTW.
marc_bergman1
I just ordered two 10' USB2 A/B cables from New Egg.
New Egg's USB2 Cables
They do show a 16' cable on the page. PuppyDigs
When I tried an USB extension cable it behaved funky (signal drop-off?). However powered USB hub solved the problem and I can shoot with over 20 feet of cable. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
mendel_leisk
Just picked up a firewire from B&H, they have quite a range.
