I recently switched to digital SLR and now you guys all know D60 is

not that great at high ISO images. I know the noise can be reduced

greatly by some programmes but just wondering which one will be the

best bang for the buck. My budget is not going to cross $50 and I

need to pick up the best one. Please help.

For $50 you can get Neat Image Home Edition. For $75 you can get Neat Image Pro + with unlimited batch processing and a Photo Shop plug-in. As for quality of nise reduction, there is no difference between the two but the convenience of the plug-in for Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro is worthwhile.

I use Neat Image Pro + and I am really pleased with the results.

I use Neat Image aswell, and I am very pleased with it. I also have a Pro version, but not the Photoshop-plugin version. I am thinking of upgrading to that version though, it can be worth it as the noise reduction is done at different stages of the image processing, not always the last step.

If that is too expensive, buy the least expensive version. It's very useful!

Everybody talks about Neat Image, but there are a lot of programs that work the same, for example Noise Ninja or Noiseware. The community version of Noiseware is free; the Standard edition costs $26 and the Professional edition costs $49. It works well and is considerably cheaper than Neat Image.

I use NeatImage - Pro+ version. It comes as a stand-alone program and also as a plug-in in the Photoshop.

I usually use it as a plug-in, except when processing a batch, because it appears to be 20% to 30% faster outside of PhotoShop.

I bought it about a year ago, and there have been about 3 upgrades (free) since then.

The most noticeable is the increase in speed of processing, and also adition of "conservative" setting for sharpening, which produces nice and sharp pictures virtually free of typical "halo" around edges with high contrast.

Overall I am very pleased with the program (I use it for cleaning the scans from my negatives). Best spent buck if anyone asks.
