Hi

I know that questions have been asked in the past regarding using the Canon 70-

200 f2.8 IS L with the Canon 2x Extender, so I will not ask advice, but would

like to know if someone could mail me some files taken with the above

combination at various apertures & focal lengths to illustrate the quality to

allow me to make up my mind whether it's suitable for my purposes.

Manu thanks in advance.

Dave

I can't answer directly but the 2X works very well with my 200 2.8L.

The zooms are ment to be only a little less sharp so my expectation is it may be OK although many seem to find to IQ poor and so stick to the 1.4X.

The only problem I notice is AF speed drops and hunting is more likely in low light, this is to be expected with TCs.

I have not had any problems with the 2x converter and 70-200 f2.8 lens. The difference in image quality is negligable, and that is shooting on a full frame sensor.

I am enclosing 1 image for you to look at but can honestly recommend the combination.

Please check the viability of f5.6 with auto focus on your camera, should be ok but not sure depending on model of camera?<div>00ISQ4-32999084.jpg.2e6fab4561859a1336d3380f80a925a4.jpg</div>

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies so far. The body is a 1d2n. I am very happy with the results with the 70-200 'bare', but need a little more distance. I have thought about the 100-400, but this means a lot more weight in the bag, i don't particularly like the trombone thing, and i think the quality i will get with the 2x will be 'enough' for me.
