wingedrabbit
I have an Elan7e and I am about to purchase my Tripod (Bogen/Manfrotto 3021BPRO with 3047 head). I also need a remote switch. I was looking at canon's Remote Switch RS-60E3 and RC-1 Wireless Remote, but I can't figure out which one to get. I don't currently have enough to buy both. I plan on doing some portrate(sp?) and landscape photography. I would think wireless is better since it's not limited to a cord, but are there advantages to using the wired switch over the wireless? rob_murray
I like the wired one better, the remote one needs to be aimed at the front of the camera (at least on the old elan, Rebel TI date model) which is a pain if your behind it. the remote is tiny and easy to lose or step on and require a battery. b_b13
I have the wireless for my Elan 7 and like it. You don't need to be standing in front of the camera to operate it, just fairly near. It is a little small and I do worry about losing it, however. I have the wired remote for my 10D and like it a little bit better, simply because the cord makes it easy to keep track of. But both work fine.
vassil_mihov
I have both, and each serves a different purpose. If you we to get only one, I'd recommend the wired.
grahams
I agree - both! However, I would get the wired first, simply because the RC-1 requires the self-timer function to be enabled on the camera, and when you have finished using the remote, YOU WILL FORGET TO DISABLE THE SELF TIMER! Next time you press the shutter release, you will be staring into the lens wondering what's wrong when the shutter finally trips! Been there, got the t-shirt. wingedrabbit
I know about not switching the self-timer back. Been there, done that too. I'll get the wired first, then the remote. Thanks all.
