martin_jiang1
I just added an Mamiya L grip for my M645, however, the grip does not comes with a hotshoe for mounting flash, instead, it has a 3/8" screw on the top of the handle, I search B&H and see a bracket like this . Is this the one?

Also, I just acquire an metered prism for M645, I cdon't know wheter it's CDS or PDS, mine has an on/off switch and speed dial on the right side. and has battery compartment on the prism.

Thanks Martin
martin_jiang1
Another question I forgot, the metered prism has a hot shoe, but I can not put my nikon flash in, the flash foot was blocked by a round brass knot, what kind of hot shoe is this? Thanks again
kevin_ing
I usually use a Vivitar 5600 (with Minolta MD adapter) on my Mamiya M645. Works fine. I also have a Minolta 320X that will mount on the M645, but the flash will not be triggered by the camera. I can't figure out why. The same flash unit works on just about every other camera I've put it on. Maybe you could just take your camera to the store and see what will work and what won't? Good luck. pete_andrews
That bracket looks like a clamp for a Meccablitz 400/CT series flash head. That's not what you want, unless you have a Metz flashgun.
The metered prism should have a hotshoe on top of it, notice. It sounds like an early CdS version, with its own battery compartment. pete_gregar1
Prism is CDs The grip wasn't really made to mount a flash. I have seen a mamiya shoe for the flash bracket, but they are rare. The shoe you posted might work. Looks like a standard stroboframe connetor for cold shoe. I would seriously consider getting a handle mount flash. The metz CT-1 would be perfect, and not much more then the flash and bracket combo you have now. I have a metz 50mz-5 flash and it is perfect for verticle compositions. The nikon might not fit cause of an engagment pin on the flash, or you are shorting all the contact pins together which could cause damage to the flash.
