pok_hon_wally_yu
I have just acquired a Fuji GA645 with no lens hood. Since I could not find the orignal lens hood, I would like to know if I can use a generic screw-in hood (those rubber-made collapsable ones). My major concerns are: 1) Does a generic hood for normal lens cause vignetting? Do I need a wide-angle hood? and 2) Will a generic hood block the AF window and/or the viewfinder? Thanks. dougmiles
When you say GA645, one assumes you mean the original folding model with 75mm lens. A hood made for a normal-lens angle of view should be fine for it. Whether the camera will still fold with the hood mounted is another matter. But there are three cameras in the GA645 series. The other two have wider lenses; the GA645S has a 60mm and the GA645W has a 45mm that certainly would need a wide-angle hood. So it would be helpful to specify which camera you have. :-)
dougmiles
Wups, sorry! I was thinking GS645. There are also three GA645's though! One would assume the model with fixed 60mm f/4, but there's also the GA645W with 45mm and GA645Zi with zoom lens. So, still useful to be more specific on the camera model. hortensia_b.
The dimensions of the original hood for the GA645 appear to be: 7cm diameter and 2cm deep. This is taken from a response posted here.
I hope this helps to decide if your generic hood would work.
