danny_rose
Hi Guys I'm trying to correct barrel distortion from a wide angle shot with Photoshop CS. I've tried doing searches and have downloaded a plugin called Pano Tools but it does not seem to work with Mac OS X. Does anyone have any ideas how I can correct this without spending money? (I'm a photography student) Thanks in advance
ellis_vener_photography
Panotools does indeed work with the OS X version of Photoshop CS. I know because I've used --biut not enought to be of much help to you. Are you sure you installed the plug-in in the right place? There is also a distortion correction tool in ACR 3.x in Photoshop CS2

roger hein
Danny, I use both PTMac and LensFix - you have to make sure the "LensFix with PanoTools plug- ins 3.0.2" folder is installed in the right location for it to be recognized by PSCS. From the docs: Advanced Installation options: These plug-ins use a program called PanoTools.bundle for image processing. By default, this bundle is located in PanoTools plug-ins 2.0.7/PanoTools/PanoTools.bundle. Alternatively you can place the PanoTools folder in your user library folder (e.g. ~/Library/ PanoTools/PanoTools.bundle ) or in the startup disk library folder ( start-up disk/Library/ PanoTools/PanoTools.bundle ). The plug-ins will search for the PanoTools.bundle in the following order: 1. "plug-in" /PanoTools/PanoTools.bundle 2. ~/Library/PanoTools/PanoTools.bundle 3. Start-up drive/Library/PanoTools/PanoTools.bundle If you are also using PTMac, you may want to use a single PanoTools.bundle for the plug- ins and PTMac. If you want to use the same PanoTools.bundle for the plug-ins and PTMac, move the PanoTools folder to the second or last search locations given above. Putting the PanoTools folder in the user library will make PanoTools available to all your applications. Placing it in the start-up drive Library will make it available to all users. The folder containing the lens databases is called PTMac (not to be confused with the PTMac application) and is found in the plug-in folder. Alternatively, you can place this folder in ~/Library/Application Support. In the future, we plan on allowing our PTMac application share settings with the plug-ins. Good luck! danny_rose
Thanks for all the help but I've downloaded Pano Tools 2.6 and followed the instructions, I've put the Pano12.lib file in my System folder but it does not prompt me to put it in the Extensions subfolder as stated, so I put it their manually. I then put the Photoshop plugin in the Photoshop > plugin > filters folder, but no luck. Perhaps I'm using an old version? The other programmes look good but I like to find a freebee if possible. Thanks again.
kirk_thompson
Panotools is a PC program, but a Mac version is available by googling Kekus. The Lens Correction tool in PSCS2 is a crude tool compared to LensFix.
d_d22
The ムfreeメ Panotools for Mac known to me is only OS 9/Classic version. You can download it here. http://www.all-in-one.ee/~dersch/PanoTools.sit.hqx From the package, you will need to install 2 things: PTools Photoshop plug-in and pano12.lib (place this one in System Folder/Extensions). I recommend you to replace the 2001's pano12.lib extension with 2002's version downloadable from http://www.geocities.com/fov960/Mac_PanoTools.html It has the same name and version number but this new one corrects the problem of Photoshop crashing when applying the filter for second time. For OS X, I'd recommend buying Kekus' LensFix ( http://kekus.com/ ). There is a free thing called HuginOSX but I don't understand how to install it, how to use it, what it can do and can't. In short: it makes my upset even if it's free.
