simon_holt
After purchasing a new 70-200 2.8 zoom lens i find the operation of the zoom ring much tighter than that of my old 75-300.The lens still perfoms perfectly, i would just like to know if this is the norm. hkbmac
its the sign of a well built pro lens.
eric_c1
depends on how tight it is. I had a same problem which my 70-200 was really tight and can't zoom smoothy. I send it back to Canon and they fix the problem for about $100. but I think it worth the fix because after the fix, they clean the lens, the zoom is a lot easlier, focus is little faster and quieter. They make it almost like a new lens to me. You could go to a pro camera store. Usually they will have a 70-200mm IS on their shelve. Ask them to try it out and compare with you len (even if you have a non-IS, the zoom ring should feel the same or similar). If its a big different, call canon for more information. bill_hildyard
My 70-200 is quite firm/tight but smooth presumably it helps prevent creep.
