marke_gilbert
Just got a viwefinder magnifier for my PME3 and PME51 prisms. I know the diopter is changed by rotating the collar, but as I got this used, Id like to find the "zero" position, and start from there.
One would think this would just be a matter of looking through the finder to find the best position, but for some reason, theres about 15% of a full turn that seems almost the same to me, or my eyes adjust too fast to find the correct "spot"--
Any suggestions? mskovacs
Are there any lines ruled on the focusing screen? Against a white wall, you should have very high contrast to make your judgement accurately.

q.g._de_bakker
And if you have not done that already: remove the lens. Only look at the cross hairs on the screen.

Your eyes will adjust, yes. making it difficult.
It's even more difficult when using bright light: our eyes' "diaphragms" will be stopped down, creating quite a bit of DOF (those of us needing glasses will know how without glasses they see better in bright light).
But then all that is needed is for you to be able to see the focussing screen as well as possible. If a range of eyepiece settings is equally good for you, so much the better. No worries. ;-)
