aravind raman
Hi all, I'm new to photography, I'm going to buy a new camera, Canon EOS Rebel Ti and the provider here in india is also giving me a choice of Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 LD 1:2 Auto Focus Macro Zoom Lens with the original Canon 28-90 Lens. My question is whats the difference between an ordinary zoom lens like canon 28-90 with that of the Tamaron one, Macro Zoom???? Thanks in advance,Aravindhan T S
jbq
The "macro" zoom will let you achieve a higher magnification. Those are typically no substitute for real macro lenses, though.
yakim_peled1
If I were you, I'd ask to get the 50/1.8 instead. Kit lenses like the 28-90 are not known for optical excellence. The 50/1.8 certainly is.

Have a look at this very informative link.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
