k._rivkin
Hi, Thank you very much for reading this. I've recently acquiredKoni-Omega and I have a very good and sturdy video tripod (with Ithink 3/8 mount - standart camera mount thread ?). Unfortunatelyfixing Koni "on the side" can be major pain with video head, so Irealized that I need a normal photo head. Unfortunately I don't have an idea concerning how well cheap headswill behave with Koni, specifically I don't know if a cheap ballheadgoing to be an improvement over my video head... So I'm currently thinking about Bogen 3028+. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you, K.Rivkin
roger krueger
I use a 3028 with a very similar camera, a Mamiya Press. I like it pretty well. It's cheap and well built, and over about four years of abuse now has held up fine--better than I can say for the legs it's been on! But ultimately, tripod heads are a matter of intensely personal preference. Ball head vs. pan-tilt debates can get just as religious as SLR vs. rangefinder, Mac vs. PC, etc. I think you've found a good place to start. The 3028 is a sturdy performer that, if it turns out you don't like it, your not out much money. Can't say that about a ball head capable of dealing with a big camera. But whatever you do, don't keep using the video head; it's not deisgned for this load. I snapped the head clean in half on my first (consumer cheapy) Slik shooting verticals with my Press and a 150.
