johann_fuller
To get my LS9000 to reproduce colours correctly I have to adopt the following workflow;Set the scanner colour space to 'Scanner RGB' with Nikon colour management turned on. Once in Photoshop CS Mode - 'assign profile' to LS8000 profile ( can't get CS to see a 9000 profile) Mode - 'convert to profile' - woring RGB (Adobe RGB)If I set the scanner up the correct way - scanner space as Adobe RGB the colours are way off - blue skies have too much cyan in particular. Anyone else having problems like this with Nikonscan. BTW I'm using the latest 4.0.2 release.
denis_van_der_staey
Johann, About the LS9000 profile - are you on Windows ?If Ph.CS can't see the LS9000 profile, it's probably because the profile is in a NikonScan-specific directory and it's not 'installed' on the system level. Locate the profile yourself using Windows Explorer (at least on Win2000, its path is something like C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nikon\Profiles\NKLS9000.icm). Right-click on the profile and then choose 'Install Profile'. Icm-aware programs like Ph.CS will then be able to find it.
johann_fuller
When I do this it shows an error message - 'this is not a valid profile' - weird?
ethan hansen
Scanner profiles are one way only. You can not convert to the profile, only from it. The thought being that your scanner doesn't make a very good output device. You can assign a scanner profile to an image and then convert to a standard working color space. ilkka_nissila
This is pretty much a universal problem with Nikon film scanners. I solve it by turning Nikon CMS off and converting from the scanner profile to adobe rgb in Photoshop.
michael_w.
How is the scanner profile applied to images in PS? Like Johann, I'm unable to install the Nikon profiles supplied with Nikonscan in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nikon\Profiles. I get the message from the Microsoft Color Management System: "An error occurred while installing NKLS50.icm. This is not a valid color profile." Am I missing something? Many thanks!
