Diffusers for Vivitar 283

Hi,

 

I own the Olympus E-10 and use it with built-in as well as the

Vivitar 283 flash.

 

When I think about diffusers Stof-fen pops up on my mind right

away..but...is there any other brands that you guys use, can

recommend ? Just for curiousity and maybe something little cheaper

for my student budget ;-)

I have the Sunpak 383 but I think the size of the flash head is identical to your Vivitar 283.

 

I read on Photo.net sometime ago that if you cut off the bottom of a standard drug store bottle of isopropyl alcohol, it will fit this head perfectly and provide nice, soft diffusion. I find that it works just fine. I think you'll agree this is a budget solution!

I cut out a semi-transparent milk jug to an L shape and use Velcro to attach or detach. Half an hour's work.

For indoor bounce flash (off a ceiling), an index card attached to the back of the flash with a rubber band produces results similar to using a Sto-fen. Costs about nothing.

Had some ISP transfer problems but now finally got back online and read all your responses.... wow, never thought about a home-made one but if it works..sure...why not ? ;-)
