rayn
Thinking of trying some digital infrared. I'd like to hear back from anyone that has tried removing the IR filter in a Canon 10D or 300D. How well did it work? I'd probably do it to a 300D since they are cheaper. Carrying this body along just for IR wouldn't be that difficult (since I'm used to carrying MF gear anyway). Does removing the filter compromise protection of the sensor? Comments appreciated.
shane michael
I know that there is a company called the "I-R Guy" that removes IR filters from older D30, etc. but I am not sure that the 10D or even the 300D has the same type of IR filter in front of the sensor. Try a Google search.
g_guhan_gunaratnam2
HI Ray, I asked this a while back and got few responses. I'm unwilling to try it on my camera. I had it done on my older F717 and it worked well. With that camera, the IR cut filter does need to be replaced with optical glass to keep the AF system working properly. I'd think you would need to do the same here. I'd be really interested to know how it goes. HTH
leonard
Hutech sells a 300d with the IR filter removed, which they call the EOS SLR Digital Astro Camera.
