svein-frode
Hi folks, I want to invest in a flash system and umbrellas to make a portable studio for portrait/people photography? I only have experience with Flash on 35mm cameras (Nikon F5 and Minolta Maxxums) so I need to know what to get? This is my first year using the Hassy and "no electronic aids" is new to me. Not even having a hot shoe is kinda' strange... I have the Minolta Autometer V F which can be used for flash measuring. Thnaks for any pointers and help! kevin_kolosky
Try to find a couple of used PHOTOGENIC powerlights and a couple of PHOTOGENIC umbreallas. Buy Bogen stands. YOU WILL BE HAPPY. Kevin
barry schmetter
If you're willing to spend US $1000 or so, I'd recommend a monolight kit from Hensel. It includes two 500WS monolights, three reflectors, two umbrellas, two lightweight stands, one medium-sized softbox, and a nice padded case to fit everything. The Hensels have 300 watt modeling lights and are solidly constructed with metal cases. Add a couple of folding disc reflectors and you have a very flexible setup. nb
Hi.. I would say that before you make a decision of buying any equipment, try looking at some studio or may be take a studio photography course at a local photo school (if there's one). Only then you would know what kind of equipment will really suite your needs. Perhaps a Hassey flash (may be reflected of an umbrella) can fulfill your needs and a used flash would be cheaper compared to a full-fledged studio gear.
