Why use any place but the best? West Coast Imaging is staffed by

knowledgeable photographers. They care about your film, and make sure

they do the best job possible not only in scanning, but in ensuring your film is

returned in the same condition you sent it to them.

They didn't get the clients they have by doing subpar work.

I've also excellent results from two other companies:

- Nancy Scans in NY state: www.nancyscans.com

- Color Folio in Sebastopol, CA: www.colorfolio.com

Color Folio specializes in the fine arts market. Does a lot of work

with Galen Rowell.

Nancy Scans is, I'm guessing, a higher volume operation that

probably caters to the NYC commercial trade. Their scans are

cheaper, and they have the Lino software to do 16-bit/channel

output. When I had them make large scans of 3-4x5 color

negatives that comprised a single panoramic images, both of

those were advantages.

Both have been very professional and responsive.

I have used Color Folio in the past. I got the lead from Galen Rowel's website:

Phone: (707) 824-8910

Toll Free: (888) 212-7060

Fax: (707) 824-8635

Location: 2550 Lewis Dr.

Sebastopol, CA 95472

Email: info@colorfolio.com

They have a scan & print service (among others) that I used. It was a drum scan, 8x10 proof & final enlargement on the Crystal Archive printer. In my case it was a 24x30 from a 645 transparency. I am quite happy with the results & wish I could afford to do this more.

WCI has been very good with everything I've done with them, but so far that's only been Lightjet prints. I'm only gearing up to get scans done now. They advised me that I'd better stick to transparencies to get consistent results--has that been others' opinion? I'd like not to give up the advantages of negative film, unless that's clearly necessary.

There are better scanning systems than the tango.

I use place called after-image-- and the scans are definitely

better than negs I've had drumscanned at (lots of) other places,

including nancyscans. They use a howtec drum-scanner and a

software system made for scanning negatives. I don't know the

name of it.
They are in NYC and specialize in high end scaning &

retouching, and I highly recommend them.
i don't remember their phone number but the url is

after-image.com you can get their info from the

page.

Tell them jack sent you!
