ryanjoseph
Hey guys, I was playing around with my 300D, and I got a curious idea for my bodycap. I took a hot pin and carefuly poked a hole through it to try to make a pinhole lens. Needless to say I am confused by the results. I know pinhole cameras are not sharp, but this lens is so blurry you can't even discern if an image has been made, its just a blur of colors. What did I do wrong? Is the hole to big, to small, to far from the camera's sensor plane? Thanks for any suggestions.
NK Guy
Did you just use a hot pin to melt a hole into the plastic body cap? If so, the hole is going to be very imprecise and have lots of bulging around the edge. You need to make a tiny and precisely round hole in a piece of very thin metal or thick foil. Drill a large hole in the body cap and tape this piece of metal to it. There are tables on the Web for the size of hole you need for the focal length. digitmstr
>>www.lenoxlaser.com<< these guys look very good but, how would one mount those discs on an EOS body? Perhaps a lens to body adapter (any of the ones available that don't have corrective lenses in them) could be modified to accept the Lenox mounts with the disc in them. grapegeek
I did what someone else had suggested and drilled a hole through the body cap of my 300D and taped on a pinhole I had made and used before. All of my images were blurry. What I suspect is that the sensor is too small and you need a very percision pinhole so as not to pick up every imperfection in a handmade pinhole. I'd love to see some results if anyone has some good ones...
claudia__
If your pinhole is too big, or not perfectly round, or you are not using a tripod your images will be blurry. It is possible to get "sharpish" images with a pinhole
Sharp Pinhole Pic

aslak
Loreo has a pinhole lens, called Lens-in-a-cap, and they even have one with perspective control: http://www.loreo.com/pages/products/loreo_pccap.html , although I haven't used these. I'm using their stereoscopic lense however, and it's great.
