christel_golden
I need to start insuring my equipment. I live in Los Angeles. Any advice? I have heard it is best to insure one self through ppa, or other photographer's association as they have better packages than unspecific insurance companies. Where to start? brandonhamilton
I JUST got insurance this week from State Farm for 5000$ worth of my gear. They have two policies regarding photography equipment, and both are considered personal property insurance. They insure camera gear UNLESS it is used to make money. If used to make money, one needs to add a specific rider to their policy called something like "occassional professional Use", or something of that sort. This policy works for me because photography is NOT my normal 9-5 job, I hold another job during the day, and do sessions/weddings on my nights/weekends/days off. This policy is costing me 96$ a year I believe and covers Theft, mysterious dissappearance, fire, and accidental breakage. www.statefarm.com
