jamiew
I just realized what my perfect camera is. Basically a Contax T3 with a digital sensor from the D10 or D70. It would be nice if it had a 2.8 zoom lens in the 28-100 range, but a fixed 35 would do just fine (not to mention since it only had to cover a smaller sensor they could probably make it f2.0 or faster and keep the camera a similar size. Ohh to dream
vivek iyer
I think your "perfect camera"is in the market and will even allow you to change lenses. Check out the Bessa range finder digital camera.
mike_elek
Well, Kyocera makes the Contax Tvs Digital. http://global.kyocera.com/news/2003/0201.html 5MP, 3x optical zoom lens, f/2.8-f/4.8. I'm sure it costs much more than other consumer digitals.
stephen_cysewski
I have been looking at digital point and shoot cameras. None that I see has a good viewfinder. I would love a digital camera with a viewfinder like a Ricoh GR1V, Contax T3, Contax TVS111, or a Hexar AF. It would also have to have at least a 28mm wide angle lens. The Ricoh GX is close, but the viewfinder, from what I have read does not have useful information. For my shooting I prefer a viewfinder rather then the LCD
steve_chan5
Stephen, Have you looked at the viewfinder on the Minolta A2? It is about as good as it gets on a digicam viewfinder - vastly superior to any other EVF.
stephen_cysewski
I actually bought the Minolta A2 but returned it. With the snow in the spring and the long days it can be very bright. When I used the EVF viewfinder is was very dim and I could not really see the details. I would love a good viewfinder that was optical and not SLR. The A2 really had many good features, but I could not see clearly in bright lights. Steve
jamiew
I appreciate the comments my I think people missed the one key point. It needs a large sensor, like the 10D or D70. The is actually the ONE point I really want. Contax (well... er... I mean Kyocera)... Make a Digital T3 with the sensor of the 10D or D70 and a fast f2.0 lens (since you only have to cover a smaller sensor the camera could be the same size). Do that and here is one guaranteed sell. jamiew
Oh yeah.. and keep the menus simple. I want: One touch custom white ballance (maybe hold down a function button then frame a shot for WB), ISO control, instant startup and shot to shot times. jamiew
Oh yeah.. one more thing.. it HAS to take Compact flash type II ranter than that crapy SD since every serious camera uses CF cards.
