christian deichert Posted January 12, 2004 Share Posted January 12, 2004 Don't know about the origin of many of those letters, but I do know Ð and ð are capital and lowercase versions of the same Icelandic character (sounds like the soft "th" in "father", as opposed to Þ and þ, which sound like the "th" in "thick"). Perhaps Iceland is reasserting territorial rights first claimed around 1000, when Icelanders first discovered and settled in North America . . .
