edward_c._nemergut
I am considering the purchase of a Fujifilm GA645Zi, mainly to serveas a (relatively) lightweight backup to my Mamiya 645AF system. Ihave some questions regarding the functioning of the built-in flash. First, it is not entirely clear to me whether the flash is TTL or not. Secondly, I understand that the flash is "automaticly triggered." Is it possible to manually activate the built in flash? Finally, isit posssible to use the flash for fill (i.e., is it possible to setthe flash to -1 or -2 etc...)? Thanks
eric friedemann
This is an interesting question. If it were not down, this website could answer it: http://fujirangefinder.com/ I could find no description of the camera, including Fuji's website, that described it as having TTL flash. This and the fact that the camera only has a PC flash outlet and no TTL terminal would indicate that the camera's flash in not TTL.
bill_heiker
Edward, the camera has a flash sensor on the front of the camera, so it is not TTL. The flash can be used for fill, but bear in mind that it is not a very powerful flash. In programmed mode, the flash fires when needed. In aperture priority and manual, the flash fires every time a picture is taken. There is no exposure compensation dial controlling the flash. I use mine for a backup and a travel camera. It is a good camera within its limitations. I hope this helps.
rayn
No the flash is not TTL. I found it to do a decent job with fill, but there is no flash compensation available. It's high enough on the body to prevent any red eye (and my wife is very prone to red eye).
rich815
www.fujirangefinder.com is back up (sorry about that. The host had a server crash but all is recovered and up and running again after only a couple days down.) Although this question is not answered directly on the site yet a post to the mailing list of the site or to the Messages page on the site might get you an answer from a GA user pronto.

Richard
The Fuji Rangefinder Pages
