roger_michel
yes, everything was better in the good old days. good industrial design/tasteful styling was never intended to influence market share back then -- it was just a happy accident whenever it occurred. and god knows nobody ever bought anything on the basis of good design/style. stephen_w.
"and god knows nobody ever bought anything on the basis of good design/style." I beg to differ. Going way off topic, people bought Deco and Mid-Century Modern designs because of style; it's still in fashion. Have you ever priced an original Eames Lounger, Barcelona chair, or a Frank Lloyd Wright house? The Bauhaus, Corbusier, Wright, Eames, Nelson, Van Der Rohe...brought style to the masses. stephen_w.
Man: Wasn't that ironic? Woman: What's ironic? Man: His madness, is an ironic fate for such a clear thinker. Woman: No, what does ironic mean? Man: 1. Characterized by or constituting irony. 2. Given to the use of irony. See Synonyms at sarcastic. 3. Poignantly contrary to what was expected or intended.
