daniel_banham
Hi, my Mamiya c330 is only winding 10 exposures per role and some of those overlap!! is it easy to repair yourself or does it definately require an expensive repair? Whilst on the subject of ropey tlr's my older C3 will only wind on if you fire the shutter twice each time!!! ( once with the lens cap on before anyone thinks i always shoot double exposures...)...Anyone come across this before? thanks.
Jerry_
Back when the C330 was relatively new on the market, the same problem happened on 'new' models. That's probably the reason Mamiya stopped production.
roger_michel
as gerald says, the problem is endemic to 330s. the fix i think (i have only a hazy memory) involves adjusting a spring and hook mechanism that controls the action of the winder. the device is very similar to that found in the singer made graflex 23, etc. roll film backs for 4x5. in my experience, any good tlr repair shop can set things right for whatever their minimum bench fee is. if you are stuck to find a repair shop that will work on the camera, call new england photo in arlington, mass. on mass. ave. ask for ara, and he will handle the repair order. joseph_albert
Your best bet is to send it to Mamiya America (or the mamiya importer for your country if you are not in the US) and have them to a complete overhaul. It wwill only cost a little more than a repair to the frame counter/winding mechanism, and they'll replace any worn parts.<p>With a production cycle of nearly 50 years, I don't think you can make a case that Mamiya dropped the TLR product line because it was unreliable. In fact, these were workhorse cameras. Mamiya dropped the line because the tooling used in their manufacture had worn out, and they weren't inclined to pay the fixed cost of re-tooling forproduction of the camera.

Fujimoto_Simon
Hi, I am having this same issue. Did you ever end up getting it repaired?
John Farrell
Hi, I am having this same issue. Did you ever end up getting it repaired? You're hardly likely to get a reply - this thread is 17 years old!
kmac
The shutter release rod/slide on my C3 was slightly sticky, but the shutter was still easily released. My first film double exposed and the problem was that the shutter release rod/slide wouldn't return fully back up, it missed out by only one millimeter but that was enough to prevent the double exposure prevention in the shutter from working Five minutes spent lubricating the slightly sticking shutter release rod/slide fixed it and it hasn't double exposed since. All I did was work a smidgen of lithium grease in between the rod/slide and the camera body This should be tried before trying anything else
