bob_iskandar
Hey guys, Saw a Phase One system at work the other day.Now just drooling over it all day long.... But till I find a sugar mommy, think gotta live with my 10D.haiz.:( Was wondering if there's any capture software that might have similar functions. I've downloaded the 30 day trial for Capture One DSLR but it's so blardee unfriendly!and the impression I've got so far is that it's only meant to be used with RAW files. furthermore my 10D transfers a RAW through its USB at a crawling 1 whole min! Is there any other capture softwares which can let me view my JPEG shots on my laptop immediately.Of coz it'll be a bonus if they also come with the Gray Balance like Capture One. Thanks in advance guys!=) - Bob
beauh44
Hi Bob, although I've never used it, I believe Canon provides you with the software to do what you wish - it came with your 10D and should be on one of your CD's. It's probably not quite as fancy as what you've been lusting over from Phase One, though. Best wishes . . .
bob_iskandar
You're right Beau. The supplied File Viewer software does the job actually. But rather sloppily I must add. Everytime we shoot a new frame, we must click on a button before it downloads the image. Very unacceptable coz it'll be too much of a hassle to keep clicking after each frame. Having said that, I've just come across Breeze System's "DSLR Remote Pro" which pretty much does what I want. Only thing is that there's no thumnail view of all the pix that have been taken. So we can only see the latest photo downloaded and sequentially load to previous selections which is quite slow as they will load the full image of every pix again. Any other such programs u guys using? - Bob
chip
Hi Bob, The real limitations you are bumping up against is that you have an EOS 10D with a USB port that's pretty slow, the fact that C1 Pro DSLR is $500 and that you don't have an EOS 1D or EOS 1Ds which are the only bodies supported by C1 Pro in tethered mode. The speed of the 10D's USB port is not going to change anytime soon and the cost of buying C1 Pro isn't going any lower (though IMO C1 Pro is a bargin even at $500). The good news is that the cost of buying a nice used EOS 1D/1Ds are going down although at a glacial pace, well until the new EOS 1Ds replacement comes along anyway.
