Unimporant hasselblad question

Over the years I've noticed a number of hassie camera bodies for

sale on e-bay, in which the supplied picture clearly shows what looks

like 2 holes drilled into the upper two sides of the front face of the

body, just above the lens mount.

This can't be the same camera coming up for sale over & over!

What is the purpose of these holes?

Ernie,

These holes were meant to have a function in conjunction with an add-on electric motor wind Hasselblad had planned to build. This winder would have been fastened in the holes and tripod socket.

They never did build the thing though, but built the EL camera instead.

Every 500 C built after 1962 comes without these holes.

By the way, they are not in the upper two sides of the front face, but on the upper and lower right side (when seen from behind camera) of the front face.

On the original camera there were holes on the side and the

front for the motor drive that was never produced.

There was also a small hole that held a clip for the flash cord to

keep it from simply drooping from the lens. This remained

longer then the holes for the motor drive.

This was convenient when the rear curtain in the 500C had a

synch contact that was also located on the body near the

accessory bar.
