vandit
I'm having a really bizarre problem in Photoshop CS. Yesterday, I was trying to working on some image, and all of a sudden, post-RAW conversion, the background layer is locked, and I have no option of unlocking it. So no actions work. I can perform my changes manually, however. After some playing around, I find that renaming the background layer solves that problem, and does indeed unlock the layer. But for some reason, none of my actions work still. Any ideas on what could be causing this, and how to fix it? Thanks, Vandit
john_houghton
Try a double click on the background layer in the layers palette, which should bring up the New Layer dailogue. Name the new layer "Background". This new layer will be the same as your original but unlocked. Your actions (using the layer name) may then work ok. aardvarko
If the above doesn't work, then you imported the RAW file in 16-bit mode. Image->Mode->8-bit color
vandit
Thanks for suggestions, all. I reinstalled CS and it is working ok now. I'll file that one away under "Gremlins, see Bill Gates" Cheers,Vandit
