Bought 1DMkII, but warranty?

Got my body today and the guy was hard sell for a 3 year extended

warranty,even dropped $100 off the price. Can I buy this warranty at

the end of the first year if I still have the camera? Anyone ever

need to put in a claim on their warranty after 1 year?

I know Canon sells 2, 3 and 4 years extended warranties for Rebels and Elans which have

to be bought within 30 days of from the date of the original purchase... same rule may

apply to warranties for other models. Call them.

I got my 1D Mark II yesterday and I bought a 4 year GE warranty (clock starts on the 4yrs when the Canon warranty ends) for $199 from my dealer. The dealer was very straight forward with me every time I called, starting back in February. He said GE typically refers all warranty claims directly to authorized Canon service on professional level bodies. $199 seemed reasonable, and was the only price he ever quoted. It was not a hard sell by any means. He said I had up to 30 days from the date of purchase to buy the GE warranty.
