twmeyer
I just received an A16s Hasselblad back for shooting "superslides", I guess... I was supposed to be getting an A16. I got a good price for it, if it had been an A, and I can't find a price for the A16s in any on-line price lists. It looks brand new.
Should I try to sell this thing or send it back? I have less than zero interest in using it.
Does anybody know what it's worth, does anyone actually use them... or for that matter, does anyone want to buy it?...t
terry_dent
If you wanted a 645 back you should return this one. Superslides are kind of dead. A real A16 back costs $350 and up. The A16S backs are worth $150-$200. Regards, Terry Dent
dave_jenkins
If you got a really good price on it, you could have a competent machinist enlarge the opening to 645 size.
andreas_carl
I recently bought an A16S and really like super-slide format. The main advantage: you can project the slides in a regular slide projector and still have significantly larger image size than with 35 mm slides. But I know, it's sort of a "dinosaur"... wayne_sircoulomb
If you truely got a good price then call a good repair shop. It seems to that the only thing you need is a new plate for the back to be converted to an A16. That should be pretty cheep, about $100 at the most to convert it. My shop has never converted an A16s to an A16 for me but he has converted A12's into A24's with great results. With Hasselblad almost anything can be converted. Just like old hot rods. jerry_lehrer
On the back conversion, who is your technician who can convert an A12 back to take 220 film (A24)??
gene_crumpler6
I'm not a Hassey user, but if you didn't get what you ordered, I'd send it back mucho pronto on general principles!
