beno_t_marchal
I'm trying to install the SD800, the quick recycling accessory for the SB800. I can't remove the battery chamber lid. The manual is not very clear and I'm reluctant to force it in any direction for fear of breaking it.
If you know how it should work, please share your experience.
Thanks
--ben
marchal.com
Ed_Ingold
It won't break if you follow Nikon's directions. However, it requires more force than I find comfortable. You can open the cover about 45 degrees, grasp the cover near the pivots, push it to one sice and pop other pin out of it's socket.
beno_t_marchal
Edward
It works! Thank you very much and thanks for the speedy answer.
--ben
marchal.com
armando_roldan
How quick is "quick recycling"? ....I understand it takes 2.7 seconds for the SB-800 to be ready to fire again.
beno_t_marchal
I have not made any measurements yet but the manual quote 2.9s with five fresh rechargeable Ni-MH batteries as the fastest option.
However that's a worst case scenario after firing at full power.
My limited experience suggests it is faster in real use. I have been able to fire continuously for 4-5 images with bounce on the ceiling, the subject about 10 ft away (3m). The batteries had been in use for a day already, f/4.5.
--ben
marchal.com
peter_ho1
I have to take off some of the screws last time....it worked, I removed the lid after a lot of guess.

ronald_erdrich
The 45-degree tilt answer worked perfectly and was a lot less stressful (on me and the flash door) than Nikon's idea on how to remove it. Thanks! -Ron-
