the tightwad
If it's a manual lens you want then the best place I've found is E-bay. There are zillion manual len's on E-bay for pentax, canon & nikon to choose from made by some of the very best makers of the "Manual" lens times. You'll find Kiron, Vivitar Series 1, Soligor, Tokina, Sigma, and many otheres that no longer make lens or photo equipment. This is a where "older" can be both better and CHEAPER. robert_herz
Hi, be carefull with manual lenses on the MZ-50. Exposure will only work propper when "A" lenses are used. You can't use old "M" type lenses. To make it short, only lenses, where the aperture ring can be set to "A" will work. Best regards Robert
stemked
Robert nailed it. You must have electrical contacts on the lens. 200-400 is quite a range! There litterally are dozens of lenses to choose from. If you haven't already done so check out Boz's Pentax page http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/index.html to see what your options are just in Pentax. Again, A, F and FA lenses ONLY. If you really want the long end of that range and are trying to save a little cash you might want to look into the Sigma 400mm APO f5.6 lenses. Note Sigma also has none APO versions and they are MUCH poorer quality lenses. There are two eras of APO lenses one with 77mm filters, the other with 72mm filters. I have the 72mm version and have been happy with it, but don't expect to add a teleconvertor to this lens you'll most likely be disapointed. The 77mm filter one is said to be an even better lens. Although this lens has excellent optics the lens is pretty delicate, treat it well and you should be ok. The other cheapie in this range is the 400mm SD Tokinas and I think they also have an 'A' version of the lens. Built better but said to have poorer optics than the Sigma.
