chuck_foreman1
Assuming this is a Contaflex... ie not Super or SuperB etc, I would set the shutter to "B" and the aperture to 5.6 (or whatever higher than 2.8) . At "B" as long as you hold the shutter release button, the shutter should stay open. Does the shutter open? There is a blind (light trap) behind the mirror. so viewing from the front makes it difficult. However, with the back open hold the camera up to a window and you should see the light coming through. If there is no light, or as you have stated, it is not opening, you can tear down from the front.. not too many screws,.. you can eventually remove the middle element (sometimes stiff but a rubber grip will work) and once it is out, you ca get to the shutter and aperture. Cleaning with a q-tip and ronsol/lighter fluid, and periodically firing, should bring it back to life. Therory: Camera was stored in hot place, lube dissolved and drifted to shutter blades. Once cleaned, and re-assembled will be ok.
