WordPress Site... Review & Question

  1. I have had my site up for about 4 months.

I designed it myself and have been told tonight it looks like $$%# & I should get a Pro Phototheme or StudioPress theme instead.
They said I need a portfolio theme (i.e. pretty much theme-less).
They want me to have something akin to this http://autochrome.brajeshwar.com/
I was told this by a group of 10 web developers.
    Do you agree? Thoughts?

It doesn't look great, it's not compelling.

However, there are plenty of other ways to get a good them. I use jalbum for my web site, it's highly flexible with a lot of different skins, and you can get a great look without spending any money.

  3. Thanks for the ideas Jeff.
I've got some thinking to do...

  4. There are tons of great WordPress theme out there. I currently use Panorama for my blogs and photo sites, but recently on my test page I have been trying out Pilcrow.
Welcome to check it out, but it is subject to change, since I test all kinds of stuff on it...

  6. Hi,
First, I'm the developer/designer behind Autochrome and thanks for the appreciation.
Btw, if you're on Wordpress.com, my earlier Photography theme is also rather popular there, people love it and was recently nourished by the guys at Wordpress.com - http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/new-theme-nishita/
Oh! and as a token of thanks, here is a discount coupon for readers of Photo.net
    AUTOCRPHOTONET
Use the above discount code to buy Autochrome for just $15 - http://autochrome.brajeshwar.com/buy/
    * Valid only for the first 25 Purchases.
    * Valid till end of this year (2011).

  7. Very nice of you Brajeshwar to offer us that discount code.
I went with the Thesis frame work and am building my site as we speak.
I'll post up when I'm done with it.
