What to charge for Website photo

Hi!

 

I have just been approached by a Web site owner in the U.S. who wanted

to use a few of my photos for his site. Apparently he sells ads for

the site's podcasts so it is a commercial site. The photos are

probably for use in an unlimited timeframe. He offered to give me a

credit line and link to my own Web site. But since it is a commerical

site, I don't want to offer my photos to him for free.

 

Can anyone tell me how much I should charge him? How do I calculate

the rates?

You are entirely right that you need to be paid. There is Resnick's

but I've always felt prices were high for most clients. On the other hand of the spectrum, Dan has some more reasonable prices, that are on the low side http://danheller.com/cgi/license.data

You'll probably want to be somewhere in between.

...and don't forget the model and/or property releases from the subjects, if applicable.
