dave_dejoy
I know this question has been asked before but most of the relevant posts are quite old. I have a friend who would like to get some old slides scanned. Probably less than 100. The quality of the scan is important, but she is more concerned about possibly losing the slides in transit or otherwise. A provider close to Atlanta, Georgia would be great. But any recommendations appreciated. Thanks.
travismcgee
I can't recommend anyone near Atlanta, but tell her to use caution. Some places ship to India for the cheap labor.
carbon_dragon
These folks just did two E-6 rolls of processing for me. They did a good job but were a touch expensive. They do seem to have scanning services Link

I know they transfer slides and recreate the original slide colors.
Stock-Photos
I can recommend a service but I'm bias. It's my slide scanning service. Rather than make a (no-follow) link here, find the link on my profile page.
wgpinc
My brother had a lot of slides and negatives (color and black and white tri-x) scanned at digmypics.com in Arizona. The results were very good and they do it in Arizona unlike scancafe that ships the things to India for scanning. They were very reasonable.
http://www.digmypics.com/?gclid=CMHts-Ks-a8CFQ-AhwodRRKUUw
I'm putting together a package to send to them. Good luck!

Pricing for that level of service is really really good.
jon_porter
In California I'd suggest MySpecial Photos: http://www.myspecialphotos.com
All their scanning is done on the premises, the staff is skilled and they do good work.
