jim olson
Is there any software for a Mac that does a good job smoothing skin andeliminating blemishes . I am looking for something simple as my expertise in photoshop is very limited. thanks Jim
AaronFalkenberg
Portraiture isn't my forte, but the NIK Color Efex plugin has a "dynamic skin softener." Blemishes can be removed easily with the clone and healing brushes.

wogears
Second the recommendation of Portraiture. You can also use noise-reduction software to smooth skin.
arash khoshghadam
I agree with Emre Safak. Imagenomic portraiture is very perfect. I love the plug-in. It is fast, user-friendly, automated without the hassles I used to face in Face Studio. it detects the face and applies mask in a variety of preset combinations plus full control over sharpness, softness, white balance, brightness and contrast bringing to the face softening literature a whole new meaning. joe_williams3
I'm not familiar with the software solutions described above, but I can recommend Lee Varis' book, Skin, which addresses color correction and retouching, along with many other topics. digitaldog
Portraiture, used correctly works quite well. But if yo over do it, it looks awful. Apply on a layer, you'll be fine.
