Silver vs white reflectors?

A silver reflector reflects more light then a white one.

A silver reflector is only cooler of you use it outdoors, not if use it inside. A silver reflector acts more like a mirror, without colouring the light as a white one does; outdoors that means you mirror the blue(!) sky, thus making the subject cooler. A white one absorbs a bit of the blue, making it slightly warmer.

If you want an even warmer effect, or outdoors a more strong absorbtion of the blue light, you might want to try a gold reflector. The yellow color in gold is the negative colour of blue, ruling the blue out more effectively.

A white reflector when compared to a silver mirror reflector will de-saturate the

colors on the subject. A silver mirror reflector will show the colors to be very

saturated, almost wet. To see this, photograph a person's face. With the white

reflector they have powdery skin tones. With the silver mirror reflector, they have

"wet, shiny almost darker skin tones like a oiled down tan person." The white

umbrella is like adding white cream to coffee. It dilutes the basic colors of the

subject by diffusion.
