paul_clayton
I recently took my film into a large chain (in the UK). The negs came out with a horizonatl straight line across every exposure, except for numbers 1 and 36. This looks like a major scratch. This also comes out on the prints. Should I complain to the developing company? At the end of the day, there is not much than can be done to repair the film, is there? Thanks
Greg M
I'm not sure what you'd do to repair the film, but the least I would do is scan the images to create a digital file and clone the scratch out of the important images if the store wasn't agreeable to at least doing it for me. zenit_zepplin
a horizontal scratch across the whole thing is a signg that you got a grain of sand on the like in the your camera, for example stuck to the pressure plate. Examine the camera carefully (the inside), then clean it with a soft brush and wipe the pressure plate with a soft cloth
sven_dargatz1
I run a photo lab and I can tell you that 99% of the time the cause of a scratch like that will be a film processor that has not been thoroughly cleaned.
goulden
i also work in a photo lab and would be 99% sure it's caused by a dirty film processor but us photo lab technicians do like using the 'a grain of sand in your camera' excuse ;-)
