photosinphotos
Hi, I have recently purchased a lovely little rolleiflex k4 from ebbbbbay and i believe it has a problem, but it might just be a different mechanism? The crank will only wind a quarter turn before it stops, i can then turn it back to original position and fire the shutter. (shutter fires right at all speeds) The shutter count stays on 8. I have used older rolleiflex cameras in the past and newer rolleicords but i'm new to this model. Any ideas? I made a little video to show the exact problem - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqdkOL3k7IY Thanks, Fred
John Seaman
All the Automat series work in pretty much the same way. The crank should only stop like this when there is a film in the camera. Have you tries putting a film through? Remembering to thread it between the two rollers. Perhaps this will free it up.
fwstutterheim
It needs to be cleaned, lubricated, etc. Problem could be worse. Right now it is not in working order. Better return it to the seller.
photosinphotos
Thanks for the advice, I put old film through the rollers and it has freed up the crank so it goes all the way around! Although, I'm not sure that it is meant to turn full circle!? here's another update video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3IijJRoLVE Many thanks, Fred
John Seaman
I'm not sure if that's right. Here's a link to a very good Rolleiflex manual, scroll down to "Loading and Unloading the Rolleiflex": Rolleiflex Rollei TLR Camera Manual: Baby and Rolleimagic cameras Edited March 15, 2018 by John Seaman
photosinphotos
I just figured out it's actually called a Rolleiflex 'New standard K6'. They only produced 8000 between 1939-1941 (i guess they had other things to deal with at that time) It was apparently built as a price bridge between rolleiflex and rolleicord. I think it is all fully functioning, and working as it is supposed to! Will put a film through and see how the photos come out :)
John Seaman
Sorry I missed that it was a New Standard. I had one a few years ago, they are quite rare, but not to the point of being particularly valuable. After putting in the film, you have to advance it until the number 1 appears in the red window at the bottom. Then close the red window and it's ready to take the first picture. This puzzled me until I realised that the number 1 which appears is that for 8 exposures on 120 film.
