<p>Hi Tim, I know a lot of people here like David Odess (sp?). He also freely jumps in to help. You might look him up. I also have great service with Advanced Camera Repair on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy in Portland, Oregon. I think their site is AdvancedCamera.com.</p>

<p>BTW, do you like using your 500mm? I've been thinking of buying one, but not sure if the f/8 will be too dark to accurately focus with. I haven't used one in 20 years so I forget.</p>

I enjoy the 500mm and don't find it too hard to focus even with standard screens. Easier with a bright screen, though. I have the most trouble if the contrast range of the scene is relatively flat. I contraty scenes, it's usually easy to find an area that pops into focus, expecially if the screen has a split image.<br>

I use mine not only for the "reach", but also for the perspective and isolation it provides.</p>
