ross_wilson1
Hi, I started using room temp chemicals for RA4 processing a few weeks ago, I got some nice results at first but now prints seem to lack punch. I appreciate a slight cast can contribute to this problem but I was wondering if it's really worth trying the 35 degree RA4 chemicals offered by Fotospeed or Tetenal, as I recently read that room temp kits can be inconsistent and generally inferior. Does anyone have any experience with the difference between the results the two types of kits produce and can you recommend any brands? Many thanks
Fotohuis RoVo
The room temperature kit has more pollution in your tanks, drums or whatever. The briljance of the warm 33-35 degrees C. kits is slightly more. They both can be used in a table machine , like the Printo (Durst) or ACP (Thermaphot) were the differences is marginal when using the RA-4 room temperature on 27 degrees C. for 2x30S processing time (RA-4 dev. + blix.) I can suggest you Amaloco RA-4 room temperature 3 ltr. kit (K43) or the Amaloco Rapido kits RA-4 and blix for 33-35 degrees C.
david_grenet
You may be interested to know that there is an ex Kodak photo engineer that uses Kodak RA-RT (the replenisher) at room temp and is happy with his results. Dev time is extended to 2 min and there is apparently a yellow shift which you have to correct for.
There have been posts here so a search may be useful.
Also, check to see if your developer uses the correct colour coupler (CD3). Apparently some use CD4 which will cause inferior hue and stability.
This thread may help.
