Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Photography announced

<p>The photo of a river rescue beat out coverage by AP in Afghanistan and coverage by NY Daily News for the plane that crash-landed in the Hudson River.</p>

<p>(Note that this is the "Breaking News" category, not the "Feature" category or even the "World As I Wish It Were" category, and thus will disappoint those who regard breaking news photography as "paparazzi-driven," as some said they did in the thread four below this one.)</p>

<p>This is a marvelous picture and a tribute to every working newspaper photographer in the country. Every year wonderful photographs are never considered because they are not submitted for publication. </p>

<p>This photographer (Mary Chind) has worked her way up from a small town paper to a medium market daily and represents the thousands of photographers doing great work for the people of their cities and towns all over the country. Good for her. </p>
